Reunited with Mexico City
I think that the ideal space must contain elements of magic, serenity, sorcery and mystery. — Luis Barragán
Some cities are best explored by following an itinerary with a generic list of ‘must see’ sights you check off, no different than a grocery list. But let me tell you that Ciudad de México, or Mexico City, is meant to be explored without a plan. It would be impossible for a history enthusiast to see it all, considering it is among the oldest cities in North America. A self-proclaimed taco connoisseur would follow the same destiny of disappointment if the goal was to try all the famous spots. This is not a city for those with FOMO, and that’s precisely why I love this place. Stroll around, and adventure will find you, turn you upside down, and leave you humbled, bewildered, and fascinated. This city will hit you hard like the drums of an Idris Muhammed song, and you’ll be left asking yourself, “Could heaven ever be like this?”.
